Sam Blitvitch

Sam has been involved in the Rock Scholars community for 8 years.  He started out playing bass as a student in our band program, developing incredible groove and rhythmic tightness before moving on to guitar and vocals.  Sam is an accomplished musician and song writer. He has a unique ability to facilitate band communication and growth through modelling, clear direction and encouragement.

Sam fronts the band Sly Withers and also plays bass in Segue Safari.

Jeremy Segal

Jeremy has been involved in the Rock Scholars community for many years firstly as a band member and now as a mentor.  He is a profoundly gifted musician with a knack for melody, arrangement and song writing.  Jeremy brings amazing musical feel and intuition to his role as a band mentor and guitar tutor. Jeremy fronts his own band, Segue Safari and is also pursuing a number of other musical projects. Instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals

Luke Parish

Luke is Rock Scholars' newest addition - and we're very happy to have him! A multi Instrumentalist, Luke played jazz guitar at school and won a special citation for outstanding musicianship at the 2008 WA schools Jazz Competition. He has a particular love for blues music, psychedelic rock, jazz, lounge and alternative rock and is currently playing in the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets who came second place in The Big Splash in 2015 and have recently released the highly acclaimed album High Visceral {Part 1}! Luke also surfs and skates and is a team rider for Soggybones Magazine.   Instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums

Marcus Davidson

Marcus started playing drums at the age of 9 and quickly showed a flair for the instrument.  With his natural feel, strong sense of timing, impeccable groove, strong technical foundation and musical ear, Marcus is an impressive and versatile musician.  He currently drums in Desert Sonnes and with solo artist Sam Barendse and previously played in Aurora and Hype.  Marcus also runs his own home studio, Metric Recording Studio. As Rock Scholars’ resident drum tutor Marcus’s lessons focus on developing good technique and having fun! He teaches students of all ages.  Instruments: Drums

Michael Jelinek (Jelly)

Jelly is a stalwart of the Perth music scene having performed, recorded, and composed with some of Perth’s most successful artists (The Growl, The Silents, Felicity Groom, Gunns, Usurper of Modern Medicine) as well as being nominated for WAMi awards both individually and with a band. He is a highly experienced teacher, with over a decade of experience teaching all ages, skill levels and styles both at schools and privately, and an understanding of the songs and genres relevant to today’s students. In addition to being an experienced teacher, Jelly has also studied music at The University of Western Australia and operates his own portable recording studio.  Instruments: Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Production

Jacob Sartori

A multi-instrumentalist, singer and song writer, Jake is an ex-Rock Scholars student and a graduate of WAAPA.  Jake’s easygoing personality and natural musicality are an asset to Rock Scholars and we love having him around the place!

He currently fronts blues-rock outfit Desert Sonnes and is the drummer in another Rock Scholars alumni band Segue Safari
