School Holidays Workshops
When school stops the music keeps going at Rock Scholars – during the school holidays we run a packed program of activities including jam sessions, workshops and clinics.
These activities are open to everyone but spaces are limited so bookings are essential.
Everything takes place at our fully equipped premises in Osborne Park under the supervision of our mentors and tutors, who all hold working with children clearance, so your kids and teenagers will be entertained, stimulated and safe. Our programs change every holiday and are updated regularly so bookmark this page or subscribe to our newsletter to get up to date information on upcoming events and activities.
School Holiday Jam Sessions
"To 'jam' is to improvise music without extensive preparation or predefined arrangements......"
Rock Scholars jam sessions are a great way to experience the thrill of playing in a band for the first time, meeting new musicians to hang out with, or just having fun.
In a safe and fully supervised environment the kids will spend a few hours playing contemporary and classic rock songs and learning the basics of playing together in a band - timing, dynamics, and how to listen to and play with each other. This not only develops musicianship but also the values of teamwork, respect and cooperation.
We provide use of our fully equipped rehearsal rooms that are set up and ready to go with drum kits, PA systems, keyboards and guitar amps. You are invited to bring your own guitars, drumsticks or anything else you fancy, or just use ours.
We have spring jam sessions scheduled as follows:
Young ones (ages 9 - 13)
Tues 25th Sept, 10am to 1pm
Thurs 27th Sept, 2pm to 5pm

Rock Scholars is delighted to offer these two hour drum clinics hosted by our very own Josh Wright. Josh is a full member of the Rock Scholars teaching staff, one of our favourite band mentors, and plays in local WA bands Wooly Mammoth and Lake Louise.
These sessions will be very hands on - you will spend two hours learning basic drum technicques, rudiments, grooves and rhythm patterns, and of course playing the drums.
These sessions are limited to a maximum of 5 people each to ensure a close-up and personal experience, so please book early. There are no age limits, but we think these clinics are best suited to young drummers aged 9 - 16.
Cost - $40 per session.
