Scholarpalooza! 2020
We are delighted to announce that Scholarpalooza! is back for its fourth year in 2020 and it’s gonna be bigger and better than ever.
Scholarpalooza! is an old fashioned battle of the bands competition organised by Rock Scholars, and it’s open to any West Australian bands and musicians aged 18 and under, including solo and acoustic acts.
The competition format is simple - this year there will be 25 artists competing in five heats of five bands each, and the winner of each heat will qualify to take part in the Grand Final.
The winners of each heat will be determined by a panel of independent judges selected from the local music industry with artists being judged on a number of criteria including musicianship, stagecraft, songwriting, originality and WOW factor.
All heats will take place at Rock Scholars’ own live performance venue The Garage, giving competitors the opportunity to play on a big stage with professional sound and lighting. Scholarpalooza! is an All Ages, smoke-free and alcohol-free event. The bands and artists are encouraged to invite as many friends and family to watch them as they can - a good reaction from the crowd can influence the judges.

GRAND FINAL - Saturday, 15 February
Prizes - Our grand final winners will receive a day of professional recording in a Perth studio with a mix and master of one of your songs, a professional photo shoot and lots more.
There will also be prizes for each heat winner.
Applications for Scholarpalooza! 2020 will close at midnight on Friday, 3 January but early entrants may be selected to participate before the closing date so don’t delay.
