SONGWRITING WORKSHOP WITH CARLA GENEVE
Rock Scholars is delighted to offer this three hour songwriting workshop hosted by WA singer-songwriter Carla Geneve.
After a huge 2017 bursting through the WA scene with her unique brand of brutally honest indie/folk and captivating live show, Carla Geneve is excited to finally release her debut single ‘Greg’s Discount Chemist’.
The 19-year-old Albany-born singer-songwriter’s captivating live show and relatable lyricism saw her win the inaugural Mojo Rising Band Competition, winning Best Regional Act at the WAM Awards, play stand out performances at festivals such as Falls Festival and WAMFest among others and support artists such as Holy Holy, Alex Lahey, Jen Cloher, Gomez, Birds of Tokyo, Stella Donnelly and many others.
Previously from a strong folk influence and background, 2017 saw a shift of dynamic for Carla into alt-rock territory as she is accompanied by a three-piece band whilst still retaining her earlier elements and influences.
After being hailed by Pilerats as one of ’18 Artists to Watch in 2018’ as well as a tonne of industry buzz from her WAMFest appearances and year in general, her debut single ‘Greg’s Discount Chemist’ was released to an overwhelming response including 85,000+ streams on Spotify after being featured in many prominent playlists, becoming Triple J Unearthed’s feature artist, the single being added to rotation on Triple J and community radio as well as a sold out debut headline show in Perth.
2018 will see the release of her debut as-of-yet titled EP as well as appearances at festivals such as Groovin’ The Moo plus extensive national touring later in the year, further solidifying Carla Geneve as one of this year’s most exciting up and coming Australian artists.
